Police in Newquay are asking members of the public to volunteer their services as drivers. Officers want people to drive them between engagements in unmarked Police cars.Well, Inspector Meredith, you'll be saving more money because of the use of free labour won't you? I imagine that employing a civilian driver to carry out those duties works out a lot more expensive than volunteers.
Insp Dave Meredith said it would save the force money because many of the unmarked cars are sitting unused for hours at a time.

Watermelons start howling about 'carbon footprint' in 5...4..3..
Can't these officers drive themselves in the unmarked?
