The average motion-sensor security light goes off five to eight times per night for around five minutes, meaning that a household would notch up 152 hours of extra wattage a year and add around 22,000 tons of carbon dioxide to London's carbon footprint.which, quite frankly, is bollocks. As a worst case scenario coal produces 1050g CO2 per kWh (x152 hours per year) or 159 kg CO2 per house per year extra.
Quite frankly I'd be more interested in the ability of the Met to perform their policing duties rather than their environmental credentials.

Well spotted. They have just got so used to spouting alarmist bollox that they no longer realise how silly they appear.
That would imply that it adds around 145 tons of carbon dioxide to turn the light on for an hour.
Is that with the old bulbs or the new ones?
I dunno what 145 tons of CO2 looks like, but it's a bloody big pile of coal.
The more time The Met spend on Climate Change propaganda mean the less time spent on shooting people in the face or kicking them to death.
