a referendum?

From the BBC:
The government could hold a referendum on electoral reform on the same day as the next general election, Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw has said.

He claimed the timing was still open for discussion despite Prime Minister Gordon Brown's pledge of a plebiscite "early" in the next Parliament. It would be "a missed opportunity" not to have a referendum on election day, Mr Bradshaw told the New Statesman.
YOU FUCKING WHAT? Are you taking the piss Bradshaw? The Labour Party said in it's 2005 Manifesto (p83-84)
The EU now has 25 members and will continue to expand. The new Constitutional Treaty ensures the new Europe can work effectively, and that Britain keeps control of key national interests like foreign policy, taxation, social security and defence. The Treaty sets out what the EU can do and what it cannot. It strengthens the voice of national parliaments and governments in EU affairs. It is a good treaty for Britain and for the new Europe. We will put it to the British people in a referendum and campaign whole-heartedly for a ‘Yes’ vote to keep Britain a leading nation in Europe.
Do you fucking remember that promise Ben? A manifesto commitment for a referendum. Instead of asking the British people if they wanted to expand the level of EU influence Gordon just smirked as he signed away more of our sovereign powers to Brussels. It's all very well Blunkett having a sly dig at the Tories during PMQs today but the Tories weren't the government that reneged on it's referendum promise, were they?

The one referendum that the British people were promised by your party, that they deserved, you removed their opportunity for a voice. Do you really think that this is adequate compensation?

I take it you are angry then :) Why is it that nothing ever surprises me?

I am just gobsmacked these days at the nerve of our politicians. I'm on the verge of throwing a wobbly!

I'm a little upset that this .. .. this .. .. this .. .. cock thinks that talking about a referendum now when the Tories are struggling with the embarrassment of their position somehow makes the Labour Party the good guys.

Cameron made hollow promises that he had little chance of fulfilling, Brown just signed without asking us first.

Tossers. All of them.

He probably still reckons Labour are going to win the next election too. Tories aren't ahead enough

Labour are quite disgusting hypocrites on the EU. I truly hope it bites them very very badly.
