I bought a second hand car in a private sale this week for Mrsff. It has no tax disc on it and the saga of trying to obtain one is driving me nuts (pun intended)! The online service and the telephone service are entirely automated (as far as I can tell) and will send the disc to the address of the registered keeper as stated on the V5. No good to us as the chances of the database being updated already are slim to none. We can't get a disc via the post office as the updated insurance certificate has yet to arrive .. .. ..
Until we get a tax disc on the car she can't legally drive it, and with the change in the law it may even be illegal sitting as it is off-road.
*frustration*

You can still use the Post Office though, can't you?
I wasn't aware they'd phased that out in favour of the online service.
Yup, but not without insurance docs .. .. ..
