digital tv

The Argus reports
Thousands of people across Sussex could have problems with their Digital TV signals because of the predicted bad weather.

Unlike traditional analogue pictures, which deteriorate in quality and become snowy when the weather is bad, digital pictures can break-up or simply disappear if weak signals are disrupted by poor weather.
I remember asking Twitter if anyone else was experiencing a loss of picture quality when the first snow arrived this year and it seems that I'm not alone.

Yaaay progress!

Loss of picture is nothing, here in Manchester along with loss of picture/freezing picture we have also had the BBC stations changed to Welsh.

It's 'cos we're half way between the current analogue/Freeview combo and the new all digital set up. Once all the old stuff's gone they'll turn the wick up on the transmitters and all signals will improve. Manchester should even be able to get signals in not-Welsh.

The problem is that's not going to happen until mid 2012!

It'll also get worse before it gets better as the analogue signal is turned off in more regions but the digital signal still isnt able to be boosted.
