suffolk police are fuels

Via the BBC
Suffolk Police have had to spend more than £9,000 to repair damages caused to their vehicles by using the wrong type of fuel, the force has revealed. Since April, officers at Suffolk Constabulary have managed to put petrol into a diesel car or vice versa 15 times.
Twice per month since April. Have they employed someone new who isn't very clever at working out the correct nozzle at the petrol station? Well
In the past five years officers have made the blunder more than 60 times. It has cost Suffolk Police £9,127 to repair the vehicles. Police said it was due to human error.
no, it's been going on for 5 years.
"Over the last 36 months, coloured discs labelling what fuel each vehicle takes have been fitted over the fuel caps of every vehicle in our fleet. The disc has to be moved out of the way before the fuel cap can be removed and the fuel pump nozzle inserted. While the discs are not foolproof they are a very low-cost preventative measure and have generally been effective in reducing the number of mis-fuelling."
These discs that have been added to every vehicle to prevent mis-fuelling have not stopped the 5 year average of one vehicle per month becoming two vehicles per month this year have they? Surely Suffolk police have a record of who is responsible each time? The detective work to determine the offender isn't that arduous .......
