Brighton and Hove council have finally fallen in line with national policy and implemented a wide ranging "We don't give a toss about what you think" policy. In keeping with the recommended standards they have held a number of public consultations on the matter and totally disregarded the results.
The good news was uncovered by an Audit Commission investigation that was instigated after a number of worrying media reports described the council changing its accepted policy to fit the desires of the residents of the area. Fortunately these allegations proved to be without any substance.
A council spokesman said work had already begun to address the issues. "We've initiated a whole raft of public consultations designed to mislead the public into thinking that their voice is being heard. Our Communications Office has been instructed to issue at least 25 press releases a day. Our local e-petition site beta goes live in a few weeks."
"All of these measures will prevent further inaccurate stories appearing in the media. We have fully embraced the example set to us by national government and we really couldn't give a toss about anyone but ourselves."
