critics

Three music critics for a well known magazine have caused a media storm after their latest review. They'd been to preview the forthcoming single, a cover of Benny Benassi's smash hit 'Satisfaction', by Swansea's Pontarddulais Brass Band when things took a rather unconventional turn. At the end of the performance the critics had left the impression that they would give an entirely unique appraisal but the band were completely unprepared for what happened next.

Rather than just write a mediocre put down the critics returned to the band's headquarters in the dead of night with a variety of metalworking tools, some lights and a high quality video camera and set to work. The resulting performance art music review, believed to be a world's first, entitled "Pile of Shite #1" has attracted over 2 million views since it was uploaded to Youtube yesterday.

A bidding war between three art collectors for the ruined instruments, conservatively estimated as having a £300 scrap value, has reached over £50,000. A spokesperson for Amazon commented that preorders for the mp3 has broken all previous records for brass band downloads. Two people have shown an interest in joining the band since hearing about them.

The Pontarddulais Band however are not impressed. "When I found out my trombone had been destroyed" said one member "it felt worse than the time I lost my trainspotting notebook. Or when my wife died. Or the time I was arrested for exposing myself in the town centre."
