The world applauds as President Karzai finally transforms Afghanistan into a 21st century democracy. The shift was confirmed with the announcement that a minister previously sacked and widely believed to be corrupt and incompetent was named for a prospective post in the new cabinet.
"We are exceptionally pleased to have fully embraced a modern democratic system in the way it is practised in Great Britain" said a leading member of the administration. "We feel that the Mandelson Model of career progression has so much to offer us. Even the Blunkett example has many merits."
"Before we embraced this new progressive democracy a disgraced minister would be taken out and buried in the ground up to his shoulders and stoned to death. Now they can look forward to a promotion or two and a long and healthy career whatever transgressions they have been found guilty of."
"We thank the government of Great Britain for showing us the enlightened path towards true democratic freedom" he acknowledged "and we look forward to an expenses system that befits a dynamic, modern, democratic system of government being introduced at the earliest possible occasion."
