A man was left fuming yesterday after a bookmaker refused to pay out on his bet. He'd put £10 on a white Christmas in 24 separate towns across the UK in two accumulators. As all 24 towns actually had snow on Christmas day he was expecting a £7 million return.
"We took the bet in error" said a spokesperson for the bookmakers. "There is absolutely no way we would accept any wager that has a chance of paying out on that scale. We will be contacting the customer in the near future and offering a bunch of flowers, a box of chocolates and a free £10 bet to say sorry."
