An ambitious plan by the Metropolitan Police to recycle guns, bullets and knives for the 2012 Olympic games has come to light this morning. Officers from their Environmental Division have spearheaded the campaign to encourage a reduction in waste.
"This initiative has two major benefits for the country" said Chief Superintendent Kat Arnner. "Firstly it will reduce the amount of guns that end up in lakes and rivers, or buried under motorways and office blocks. The second, more important benefit, is that we will be able to guarantee that British thugs will be properly tooled up during the games."
"Rather than just disposing of all of the unwanted weapons we have collected we are hoping that they can enjoy a second life at the 2012 Olympic site. If this proves successful then we are lobbying the mayor to give every household in the Metropolitan area a new red bin, to sit alongside their black, blue, green, brown and food waste bins so that the process of recycling unwanted weapons can become easier. We believe that going forward London can lead the world in weapon recycling."
