shoplifter

A man was convicted by the courts of shoplifting today. Goods totalling £6000 were stolen from an Ikea store over two months last summer. Staff became suspicious when they noticed he was repeatedly seen entering and leaving the shop. When they checked the CCTV footage they discovered that he'd managed to steal 4 bookcases, 3 chests of drawers, a bed, two sofas and some scented candles.

Security procedures at the branch of the store have been tightened after it was revealed that the man walked out with a mattress stuffed down his trousers and one of the co-workers actually held the door open for him on his way out of the store.

"While we are thrilled at the level of customer service exhibited by our co-workers we are slightly disappointed that none of them spotted the large sleeping pad he absconded with" said a senior manager. "Lessons have been learned and we have instigated a store-wide retraining initiative to prevent a re-occurrence of the situation."
