abingdon street prep school update

Dear parents, legal guardians, trust fund managers, solicitors, nannies, wet nurses and au pairs,

None of you can be unaware that the school has now closed for the duration of the campaign to elect a new student council body. As described in previous notifications the candidates have laid out their proposals for the next school year. In the time leading up to the ballot we are expecting every candidate to be actively involved with the process.

It has come to our attention that some of the prospective council have, for all intents and purposes, decided that their presence is not required and that they can use the time as an extra vacation. We would like to remind those pupils that if they do not take an active role then they will be excluded from school when we return on Monday May 10th. If they feel that they are receiving a hostile reception from the School's drama society then they should not be so disparaging towards them when discussing policy ideas with the football team.

It has also come to our attention that some of the candidates are using their girlfriends to campaign on their behalf. Under the rules of school council elections this is only permissible if their partner actually attends this venerable educational institution. The outcome of the 1542 incident should serve as enough of a deterrent for those considering encouraging this activity.

Finally we would suggest that the campaign has become far too focussed on the policy ideas, such as they are, of one of the contenders for the seat at the head of the school council. We find this to be a remarkable state of affairs. We would encourage each of the candidates, and their support teams, to focus on what their policies are and not how bad their opponent would be should he gain a majority on May 6th. The spirit of the school has always been positive and forward looking and such negativity is unbecoming of the senior year.
