#bbcqt 1/4/10

While many people will have remembered the program for Victoria Coren's line "the dress is unzipped but the bra is still on" some things that Alan Johnson said in his first answer troubled me.

I know that I'm no financial or political expert but when I go to a shop and and I'm told that I'm going to make a saving I don't expect to end up paying more for the goods or services. It seems, however, that the Home Secretary doesn't agree. Also curious is the reference to Conservative efficiency savings and how they will also come from tax rises, a point that Ken Clarke does not dispute.

Then of course the idea that NI will be implemented in 12 months time when, hopefully, we are out of recession. I thought that we already were?

If anyone can explain I'd be grateful.

You probably want to take a closer look at their 'Buy 2 for £**' offers then...
