men unhurt

Two men rushing to hospital in Edinburgh after seriously injuring themselves were miraculously cured by a tree falling on their car. Neither of them can quite believe what has happened to them.

"I'd fallen off a ladder and broken my leg" said one of the men. "The end of the bone was sticking through the skin and there was blood everywhere. When Bob my neighbour popped round and found me lying on the floor he passed out and as he fell cut a huge flap on skin out of his head. I was in no fit state to drive us to the hospital so he loaded me into the back seat so I could hold his scalp together until we got there."

"It was all going much better than we'd hoped when the tree fell on us. I thought well that's it then it's time to go. I dragged myself out of the car and went to help Bob and he looked at me strangely."

"Too right I looked at him strangely" said Bob. "A few minutes earlier his shin was poking through his trousers and here he was walking around on it, helping me out of the car, completely unhurt."

Police are tonight warning people to be on the lookout for unscrupulous con-artists who have flooded the city with fake branches reputedly from the tree.
