threatened UK mammals

I'm no expert in marine biology but I'm pretty fucking certain that neither of these two is indigenous to the UK. However the Royal Mail press release says
Julietta Edgar, Head of Special Stamps, Royal Mail said: "These stamps allow us all to have our own collection of minature mammals. But they will also deliver an important conservation message through millions of letter boxes, highlighting just how important it is to safeguard the future of the diverse range of mammals which inhabit the UK and its shores."

Dr Robert Bloomfield, co-ordinator for the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity in the UK, said: "These stamps illustrate that even some of the most loved UK species, which we consider common or familiar, are under threat. We can all make a difference in our day to day lives to change things for the better for plants and animals. IYB-UK encourages people to learn about our native plants and species, to appreciate them, and to do practical things to prevent their loss."

There are various toothed whale species around our coast, ie Sperm Whale, various dolphins and porpoises, plus pilot and killer whales.
There are only a few baleen whale species here, including the humpback as an occasional visitor.
Thar she blows!

True, but they were much more common round these parts before Catastrophic Climate Change kicked in. Ditto the sabre-toothed tiger.

The democracy bird is pretty rare around these parts.

That's why you don't see them so much, cause there's less of 'em. Been eaten up for fish 'n chips, thus endangered if we eat anymore of what's left. It ties in with the obesity campaign. All the bans and endangerments and campaigns tie together in one grand scheme. We just have to believe it in faith and not ask difficult questions.
