what not to say during a psych assessment*

Contemplating suicide doctor? Well I've thought about fitting the regulator from the patio heater on the full CO2 canister at work, driving up to Devils Dyke with it in the boot of my car and watching the sun come up while listening to Barber's Adagio for Strings but that hardly counts as contemplating, does it?

* No, I haven't had one. Yet.

I think you'll find there's a far more effective one for producing a speedy diagnosis.

"You got your medical degree in Zambia? Can I please see a properly qualified psychiatrist instead?"

I was greviously provoked, m'lud. Not big or clever.

Few years back I got done for growing dope. Got a suspended sentence so needed a probation assessment interview. Two people there - probation officer and a man who introduced himself as a psychiatric nurse.

"Do you ever think of suicide?"

"Yes, every day"

Assessment? Didn't need any probation supervision during the term of the suspension. Call us if you need any help about anything.

A good assessment.

"Do you ever think of suicide?"

Not half as often as I think of murder. Do you watch the news at all?

Contemplation has something to do with a navel, doesn't it?
