If ever you needed proof how the political parties view the population then the debate on a referendum over our relationship with the EU in parliament last night says it all.
The three largest political parties imposed a 3 line whip on a vote, to see if we the people should be polled directly to find out what we think, the result of which was in no way binding on the government.
The message from Parliament is clear: "Go fuck yourselves plebs"

Worry not when this thing blows.Our concience will be clear for it is polititians who have destroyed Democracy.
This combined with the expenses scandal has done it for me now. They don't represent the people or the country.
Their time is getting inexorably closer.
I do not recall any other subject where each of the three main parties promised action in each of their manifestos and then jointly told us fuck off.
Blair, the Kinnocks and Mandelson were in it for the money, what's Daves excuse?
