*Dear Xanthippa, I'm not suggesting for a moment that smacking is a good thing. I'm railing at the stupidity of the politician suggesting that one social group should be given dispensation to do something that is illegal for the rest of us. :o)

Pretty much pointless since most decent parents still smack their children regardless of the law and the results speak for themselves.
Serious child abuse is as rampant as ever aided and abetted by authority neglect and judicial apathy. The judge that blamed social instead of the parents for a baby suffering multipe broken bones at 3 weeks old ? Why not as well as ??
Interesting to see him the slip "Race" into the debate though. Who knew black and brown skin doesn't go red when smacked ?
The law is clearly discriminating against white people and they never noticed until now ;)
