Yes I've just noticed the new 'captcha' pile of shit word verification too. You've got to love Google's attitude - if it's working quite well lets change it and fuck it up for no real reason.
Not sure yet what I'm going to do about it.

Bin it. I did and the spam filter is doing it's job, so no nasty side effects
They seem to have altered it. Gone is that black cloud thing but it's still a pain in the butt for us commenters. I'll have to decide if I'll keep commenting at sites with Blogger verification - it takes too effing long.
It seems to me that it only has to be a tiny bit less unintelligeable for it to work OK. Most of the time I manage to guess correctly, I posted at another blog a little while ago and needed two tries due to something that looked as though it could be a j or an r.
I agree with Bucko. Stopped it a few months ago now and have no problems.
Like James I find the new system takes far too long and 50% of the time I've to redo it. It's not my eyesight - honest.
